Talyn’s Great Escape

So Talyn usually hangs out with me at night before bed. However, if we have any guests Talyn always loves to run downstairs and say hi! So like usual, last night when my mom’s friend came over for a visit, Talyn ran downstairs. Since it was such a usual routine, I didn’t think twice about it. I ended up falling asleep on the couch. When I woke up around midnight, I moved to my bed thinking that Talyn had gone to his crate by himself like he did every night. I woke up the next morning and started getting ready for work, until I got a phone call. It was from a number I didn’t recognize so I didn’t answer it, but the person left a voicemail. When I listened to it, I discovered that on of my neighbors had Talyn outside my front door. I raced downstairs still in my pjs and found my neighbor pulled over with Talyn happily running over to greet me. I probably said ‘Thank You’ to my neighbor about a million times then ushered Talyn back into the house. I hugged my boy like crazy then looked him over very carefully. He wasn’t any worse for wear, but I could tell he was happy to be home.

I was terribly shaken, even though I wasn’t even the one locked out. I still got ready for work and made it in, but I did take the time to see what Talyn did the night before. I found that Talyn had been scratching at the front door and had tried to dig his way under the side gate:

Talyn's attempt at digging his way under the fence to get back inside.

I felt so bad I probably gave Talyn every treat I had in the house. But it showed me that even thought Talyn had the chance to run away, he did everything in his power to get back into the house. And I think that gave me a bit of comfort.
