Name Origins: The name “DAX” comes from the sci-fi show, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The character Jadzia Dax is the eighth Trill host of Dax, who is a symbiont: a very long-lived slug-shaped entity that is hosted by a succession of humanoid Trills. Each of the hosts has access to the memories of the previous hosts, including the accumulated skills and work experiences.
